Welcome to the
Stationmaster's Hostel

Stationmaster's Hostel, Stromeferry, Loch Carron

Stromeferry is a tiny fishing village on the west coast of Scotland near the Isle of Skye 10 miles away. There are short forest and pebble beach walks in the village to take in the spectacular landscape. There are only 15 houses enjoying the amazing views over Loch Carron where there are often sightings of otters, dolphins, seals and bird-life.

We have two hostel rooms with 6 beds in each (£17.50 per night), two double/twin standard rooms (£40-£50 per room per night) and 2 double/twin/triple en-suite rooms (£50-70 per room per night). Beds come with a duvet, pillow and blanket fitted with a clean duvet cover, sheets & pillow case. All of the rooms have countryside views and have a heater that runs off the wood pellet central heating fire that is in the main room on the ground floor.

The house was built for the Stationmaster who looked after the Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh railway in 1888. The stretch of railway from Stromeferry to Kyle was the most expensive stretch of rail built in the world because it is all on bridges, causeways and cuttings along the shore of Loch Carron. It was also rated at one of the top train journeys in the world by Michael Palin of Monty Python fame. The entire house, all bedrooms rooms, shower rooms have been entirely renovated and freshly painted in the last few years.
